Point Reyes Hike (3/31/2002 - Sunday)
[home]

We will start the hike from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.  It is about two hours from Fremont.  For those in Marin/SF, please meet us at the visitor center directly at 11 AM.  For south Bay folks, please meet at the carpool location at 9 AM (remember the clock changes that morning to one hour ahead, so really, you don't get extra sleep - sorry!!).  See carpool location below.  The particular hike has not been decided.  See here for some suggestions.  We'll probably do 5 to 10 miles.

Carpool location (for south bay folks. For north bay folks, please go to the park center directly, see directions below):
Fremont, at Alberson supermarket parking lot:
Direction (from San Jose):
1. Take 880 N and exit on Mission Blvd East.  or Take 680 N and exit on Mission Blvd West.
2. Turn into parking lot at Alberson supermarket at intersection of Mission Blvd and Warm Spring.

If you need other directions, please call me at (650) 814-1169 (Paul)

Directions to Bear Valley Visitor Center for Marin/SF/Penisula folks (taken from pointreyes.net):
"Point Reyes is in Marin County, about an hour north of San Francisco by car. If you're not familiar with the area, you'll probably want to start your trip from U.S. Route 101. Exit at Sir Francis Drake Highway (for the cities of Fairfax and San Anselmo), and continue west on Sir Francis Drake to Olema. To get to the visitor center, turn right in Olema onto Route 1 and then make an almost immediate left onto Bear Valley Road, and continue on Bear Valley Road for less than half a mile - you'll see the visitor center entrance on the left."

Directions to Bear Valley Visitor Center for folks coming from Fremont:
Basically the same as the directions above, except you need to get to Sir Francis Drake Highway via 580 over the Richmond/San Rafael bridge.  To get to the bridge, take 880 North all the way past Berkeley via 80 East.  From 80, take 580 West onto the bridge.  There should be signs for getting to Sir Francis Drake Highway once you get to San Rafael.  Then follow the directions above to get to Bear Valley.
