Dear friends,
In the Sunday past, 14 of
us braved the 7:45 AM startup time and hiked an amazingly lengthy hike
at Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. It was a spectacular set of
trails with very few other hikers but plenty of wonderful sights. Some
of the pictures have been posted, see http://www.signite.com/hiking and
the link towards the top. Despite the distance (we hiked a total
of about 13.5 miles in two parts of the park) and a couple of minor mishaps,
some of the hikers are touting this as one of the best. It
is similar to Purisima but almost entirely shaded with several openings
overlooking creek canyons and lagoons. Looks like we'll be back to
this trail at a future date.
For the coming week, we will
have an afternoon hike! And an easy one, at that, including the drive
to the park (Santa Teresa). Oh, and it'll be on Saturday instead
of Sunday. We will not meet at Bijan, but instead at Chris' residence
just off 101/85/Bernal Rd. We'll hike a fairly easy trail of about
3-5 miles and then have a pot luck dinner and relax the night away.

-Meet at Chris' residence at 2:00
PM, drop off pot luck items to be enjoyed after the hike. (See website

-Drive to Santa Teresa County Park,
it'll take just 10 minutes. Start hike around 2:30 PM.
-Hike between 3 to 5 miles.
Finish hiking by 5:30 PM, then head back to Chris' residence.
-From 6:00 PM till whenever - potluck
dinner, relax.
-Bring board games and stuff.
