First meeting, in Fremont

This was our first meeting and
took place in Duc & Yen-Chi's residence in Fremont. There were 13 of
us: Duc & Yen-Chi, Tracie & Arthur, Thien-Nhien and Chris, Hoa,
Tomo, Khanh, Thoi, ThuHuong, Tuan, and Paul. There were lots of delicious
vegetarian food, much of it prepared by Yen-Chi and ThuHuong. Others
brought dessert and exotic tea. There were dozens of candles in the
fireplace and around the rooms which exuded much warmth and peacefulness.
To be amongst friends in times like these is truly something to be thankful
for. Duc mentioned something which Thich Nhat Hanh said about this:
"... the moment you stop being grateful, suffering begins...". How
often we forget how fortunate we are! With awareness and compassion,
we can help to bring joy to others and ourselves.
