This was a short New Year's hike to Cataract Falls from the end of Alpine Lake in Marin County. Started at 680' and 1.7 miles later at 1640' (Laurel Dell), then turned back. Four people plus one canine went on this hike. The fog never did lift completely but it wasn't too cold, fortunately. The small rains in the previous weeks helped keep the series of waterfalls wet.
