November 6, 2004 - Castle Rock State Park This hike was attended by 4 people: Judit, Steve, Andrew, and Paul. It started out a bit chilly, perhaps in high 50's. But it soon warmed up as we started the hike and once we hit the open trails, everyone was in short sleeves. It was sunny and calm, with a bit of haze, with highs of mid-60s. We started at the Castle Rock parking lot, and first visited Castle Rock itself before heading to the main trails. We saw some rather nice fall colors and walking on grounds full of acorns reminded me of the old forests in TLOR. We climbed quite a few of the sandstone formations alongside the trails, including Castle Rock, Goat Rock, and other unnamed caverness forms, one of which had a treasure bucket. After the hike, we had lunch at a sandwich place in downtown Saratoga. Enjoy the photos! Click on a photo below to start the slideshow. Post or Read Comments.
