On Saturday, September 28, 2002, we went for a rather leisurely hike at Ranch Pond, located just minutes from downtown Saratoga and about a mile from Sanborn park's main entrance.  10 people came for this hike: Thu, Thai, Trang, Anthony, Greg, Jenny, Mei, Paisley, Katie, and myself.  The hike commenced with a 1/2 mile uphill climb.  At the top, we were greeted by Ranch pond, a water source for a myriad of plants, animals, and insects.  Although the water level was low, plenty of wildlife could still be seen including ducks, birds, fish, frogs, etc.  Beyond the pond was a flat 2 mile hike in the shades of trees showing fall colors.  In all, we hiked about 5 miles and had a very relaxing time.
