Tens of thousands of Chinese and non-Chinese came out to see the spectacle of the 2008 Olympics Torch Relay in San Francisco. After hours of waiting, no torch was seen along the planned/publicized route. Instead, the torch bearers were transported to another undisclosed location and ran for just a few miles up Van Ness and Lombard. Protestors and supporters lined the streets but peace generally prevailed.
