January 17, 2004 - McNee Ranch State Park
This hike
was attended by 9 people on a rather nice winter day. They were: Amy,
Andrew, Brenda, Maggie, Mei, Molly, Paul, Sophia, and Steve. Temperature
was upper 50's for the most part, with light winds. The total distance
was about 8 miles with a total elevation change of 1800'. The cool temperature
along with the breeze helped to make the hike feel rather pleasant.
The cloudless day afforded very nice views of the grand Pacific. We
had lunch at the peak of the Montara mountains where transmission towers
were erected. Colorful mushrooms, one as large as a cantaloupe, could
be found in the shades towards the entrance of the trail. It's not advised
that you touch or consume these critters unless you are an expert in
mycology! Return to [Archives] [Signite Hiking]
